The Order’s Fundamental Statute

It is also the law governing the profession

About the text

The Order’s fundamental statute is also the law governing the profession: the text that created the Tunisian Order of Engineers and set out its organisation and the conditions for practising as an engineer.

Key provisions

  • Creation of the Order as a professional organisation that brings together, by law, all engineers residing in Tunisia.
  • The Order’s missions: defending the honour and interests of the profession, promoting the engineering profession and training, and helping assess the country’s need for engineers (Article 9).
  • Council of the Order: 20 members elected for 6 years, half of whom are renewed every 3 years, with the widest powers (Article 21).
  • Conditions for practising: Tunisian nationality, full civil rights, a recognised engineering degree and registration on the Order’s roll.

Draft new law

The Order’s National Council, meeting in Sousse from 1 to 3 May 2026, stated that adopting the new draft law governing the profession, to replace the 1982 text, is a top priority.
